Hey everyone, first time posting on the forum.

I'm currently in the process of trying out Affinity to make the jump from Adobe. Some features I think would be amazing in Affinity Designer 2 are a trim paths function or knife snapping feature when drawing curves. Working in tandem with the Vector Flood Fill (VFF) tool it could speed up so much work. At the moment to use the VFF tool you need to ensure every single node connects to curve geometry or another node to make a shape. For larger pieces this can result in quite a time consuming process of lining up every curve/end node to make sure the VFF tool work correctly.

I think it would be great to have a function of the pencil to trim off overshooting curves and snap them to the intersecting curve. This is how I currently work and it helps when drawing larger curves/paths as when you overshoot you don't have to focus on ending the path exactly at the curve. I think this could be done by adding a shortcut on the pencil or alternatively introduce snapping to the knife tool. Currently when you make cuts you are eyeballing where the cut will go (if there is a way to make the knife too snap, please let me know!) and in some cases this may result in the node not connecting to geometry therefore affecting the VFF tool.

Another way around this issue is to introduce a tolerance to the VFF tool allowing for shape fills to still be generated even if the paths/nodes aren't exactly aligned as sometimes you can end up with nodes that are pixels away from another curve and the VFF tool just won't work.

Anyway, just wanting to start a convo and hopefully get some iteration of this added to the application. Again, I'm totally new to Affinity so if anyone knows of a solution to this please let me know. Here to learn.

Cheers and have a boss day.

Luke
