Could you please add a colour bar to the top of the layers panel.  Clicking a colour would select all layers of that colour.
Shift + Click to select multiple items.  Ctrl + Click to toggle hiding the colour.  Right click a colour for a menu with helpful things on it.

(The layer DO IT is just part of my current project; it's unfortunately coincidental that it ended up in this feature request)

We could select things with one click instead of menu diving.
This would be an optional thing for people who wouldn't want it.

Your "colour bar" seems to be somewhere above the Layers Panel, rather being a part of it. Other people may have different panel layouts, with the Layers Panel in a different position, so your "colour bar" needs to be a part of the Layers Panel itself.

To be honest I wouldn't want this feature myself, as I'd rather not waste space just to save a right click, but I can't see a problem with it, as long as it was optional.

Ya for sure.  My mock up picture is probably where I would want it.  The settings would allow top or bottom or undocked or whatever.  We would also be able to choose our colour and how many colours there are.  Just another handy tool to avoid menu diving.

That is, elsewhere than you write "add a colour bar to the top of the layers panel".

If the Layer panel will be floating, or will be docked in the second column or on the other side of the workspace, where will your Colour bar be located?

Actually the bottom of the layer panel would be better, come to think of it.
Yes, outside of the panel but butted into it.  Right above those other tools.  Keeping it always visible reduces mouse clicks, is my methodology.

I would also like a little 'Same' button too.  Click it to get the list of same items that can be selected.  One less click adds up to lots of less clicks.
