artbyheidijean Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 Hello! Hopefully this is in the right place. I recently added some pages to my current document, a manuscript for a children's book that I'm illustrating and formatting in Publisher, and it keeps crashing. I've never had this issue before. It is a rather large file, over 200 pages. Other files open fine, and Photo works as well. I'm working just from my laptop, and my illustrations are imbedded PNGs. I've tried clearing my cache and repairing it, as well as deleting it and redownloading, all with the same results. I open my file, it opens for a couple seconds, and then the entire program closes. I don't have much experience with computers/affinity publisher/design software, so the vocab might be a bit over my head. I also don't have wifi, so I'm at the library. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you! Quote
walt.farrell Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Welcome to the Affinity forums, @artbyheidijean. It would help to know the release of Publisher you're using, and the OS. When it crashes, the program tries to create a Crash Report. Have you looked for those? If not, this FAQ describes where to find them (assuming you're using V2): 11 hours ago, artbyheidijean said: and my illustrations are imbedded PNGs You haven't said how many illustrations you have. You might try making them Linked instead of Embedded to see if that helps avoid the crashing. You can make a copy of the document to experiment with, then in the copy the Resource Manager has a "Make Linked" function you could try. artbyheidijean Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 @walt.farrell Thank you for responding! I'm not sure what OS, but I downloaded the latest update when I posted, so I believe it's 2.5.1? I'll have to check when I get home and then get back to you on that and the Crash Report. Right now I'm unable to open a copy of the document as well. I may have to rebuild it. It may just be that my file size is too large? Quote

FWIW, the current version of Affinity Publisher is 2.5.3. artbyheidijean Posted August 20, 2024 Author Posted August 20, 2024 I've ended up recreating the file, but linking the images, and I haven't had any issues... the previous file size was 79 MB, which might just be why! I'm working with version 2.5.3, with Windows 10 Pro. I know my laptop isn't the standard for the field. Thank you for your responses! walt.farrell 1 Quote
