ASUNDER Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 I've noticed there has been times that grid snapping doesn't work for me. Then I would deselect the object, try again by dragging it around and snapping started working again. I couldn't figure out what exactly is the variables that makes this happen. Does anybody know? GarryP Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 It might be dependent upon what your snapping settings are and/or how the document is organised. For example, if your snapping is set to use “Candidates: Candidate List” then simply de-selecting and re-selecting might change/re-order the list of candidates which could case the snapping to work slightly differently. Alternatively, snapping to layers might sometimes take precedence over snapping to the grid, depending on the settings and how close the layers are to each other. Having too many snapping options set to ON can often be a cause of snapping not working as expected as the software can’t always ‘know’ what you want to snap to when there are multiple equally-valid choices. If you can show us a full-screen (whole application UI) screenshot where we can also see the ‘problem layer’ in the Layers Panel when it is selected, and we can also see your Snapping options, then we might be able to get an idea of what you are working with. If you can provide a video of the problem then that might also help. ASUNDER 1 Quote

Ok, I didn't see that candidate thing. So I changed it to all layers and carried on. I noticed that if I hold something and don't move it there is a delay time and then snap visual guides show up. I wonder if I can reduce that delay time. Being able to hide groups, only snapping to visible objects, is really good. I can colour groups and 'select same colour'. I noticed it started to refuse to snap some more and found that the settings reverted back to 'Candidates'. Here's my current snap settings: Quote Windows 10 Home 22H2 64 bit Affinity Designer 2.5.3 , Photo 2 , Publisher 2 Good computer
ASUNDER Posted August 7, 2024 Author Posted August 7, 2024 I just saw the 'Show Snapping Candidates'. Turned that on and the visual guides pop up immediately. Now that's what I'm talkin about. 😀 Quote Windows 10 Home 22H2 64 bit Affinity Designer 2.5.3 , Photo 2 , Publisher 2 Good computer
