Hello! I recently updated Affinity Designer to the latest version. Before that I was using V1. When creating a new document, V1 offered many more page sizes, including A0, A1, etc. Where did these sizes go in the latest version?

Thanks,

Ivars

Hi @Ivars and welcome to the forum,

These were removed in v2 as it was felt that the list of preset sizes was getting too long... You can of course add these back manually to the relevant categories using your own preset values...

I would find a viable compromise, if a Special a formats category was added, with the excluded formats collected there.

You could add your own category & to it add the missing A (& any of the many other standard formats to it) if you want. It is easy enough to find info on all of them on the web, for instance at https://www.agooddaytoprint.com/page/paper-size-chart-faq

Just to add a bit of discrepancy here between apps...

Creating a New Document in Designer 2 or Publisher 2 presents you with default preset ISO page sizes ranging from A3 to A6 and B3 to B5. Once created, selecting Document Setup from the File or Context menus provides the following ISO page options from the page preset dropdown:

  • Publisher - A3 to A6 and B3 to B5
  • Designer - A0 to A10 and B0 to B10

It's perhaps also pertinent to mention here a bug logged as AF-1967 which affects Master page sizes in Publisher...

Despite Publisher only providing default ISO page presets for A3 to A6 and B3 to B5, if you wish to add a new Master Page that differs in size from the default chosen for the document whilst the list of ISO presets provided is still shown as A3 to A6 and B3 to B5 selecting any of those options displays the incorrect page dimensions, so selecting:

  • A3 = A0 page dimensions
  • A4 = A1 page dimensions
  • A5 = A2 page dimensions
  • A6 = A3 page dimensions
  • B3 = A7 page dimensions
  • B3 = A8 page dimensions
  • B3 = A9 page dimensions

This is a hangover from the v1 apps but something to be aware of should this scenario arise...

Thanks for your feedback @Ivars!

I can confirm that this is logged as an improvement request with our development team for Affinity V2 apps, under the tag 'AF-1642' - I've used your thread to add your vote to this feature internally for you now.

I'll also update AF-1967 and 'link' them all internally, as it seems returning these Preset sizes to File > New should in theory resolve both of these issues.

I hope this helps :)
