Hi! I hope that you are doing well.

Currently I'm using the software to import some PDFs and export them to JPEG.
I noticed in one of them, that the image exported incomplete. I reviewed the original PDF and it didn't have any issue. I tried again importing then exporting and noticed that when I did the import, a part of the file just didn't appear. Simply it was left out. Any solution to this?

I've uploaded the file if you want to take a look at it.

Also noticed that i happens with other files as well (second image).

Thanks!

Hi @afmonroyf,

If you Place (File > Place) the PDF files rather than Open them, one per page you will maintain the integrity of the original PDFs without the issue you currently see. You can then export the document using All Pages to individual JPEG files...

Hi @Hangman, thank you for your reply.

Yes! I does work! I'll use this method.

It does take a few more steps organizing the new file, but it works for me.

In the future, it would be great to import the file so it can be edited if needed (not in this case) without issues. But i do appreciate the help!

Thank you!

Hi @afmonroyf,

Even though I don't believe this is the issue, part of the problem may be that all three PDF files contain Comments which are not supported in Affinity Apps but I assume that these are ignored when Opening the PDF files... There are no mask layers in the files hiding any of the content so I'm slightly unsure why part of the image elements of the PDFs are 'missing'...

I've attached a version that will Open without the missing sections but the pdf is slightly odd in as much as sections are raster images, i.e., half vectorhalf raster which means you can edit some elements but not others...

If you have loads of these PDF files you could combine (or merge) all the individual PDF pages into a single PDF file using a command line utility like qpdf or one of the myriad of free online tools for combining individual PDF files, e.g. I ❤️ PDF:

https://www.ilovepdf.com/

This would allow you to Place the single combined PDF file in one go in Publisher but equally if you need to make edits to the file then combining the individual files before opening in Publisher would make things significantly easier...

Thanks for your report @afmonroyf!

I'm glad to hear that the Place as Passthrough function is a viable workaround for you - however I'm still logging this as a bug with our development team as it appears as though the Image layer is truncated incorrectly upon import, when comparing the file between Affinity and Acrobat:

I hope this helps :)
