When I select a colour from swatches it automatically applies it to the stroke, is there anyway I can automatically select a colour an it will automatically apply to the shape fill, rather than the stroke. This happens the majority of time as well, with the eyedropper tool and its very annoying.

Any help will be appreciated

Welcome to the forums @Kitson2

When you click on a colour from the Swatches it will be automatically applied to whichever of Stroke or Fill that is selected in the Swatches Panel (or Colour Panel).

(The same thing goes for the Colour Picker Tool on the Tools Panel.)

If you want the colour to be applied to the Fill then select the Fill well before you click on the Swatch.

Welcome to the forums @Kitson2,

Just to add to the feedback above 'X' is the keyboard shortcut to switch between the Fill and Stroke, you may find that helpful...

Thanks for your help.

Its just a pain when I have to keep selecting the fill option. In Photoshop you could do it automatically when you select the fill or the stroke to add the colour however in Affinity it just switches back to the stroke once I have applied the colour manually. Just thought there could be a setting I could adjust.

I’m not sure if I understand the workflow you are following.

Can you give us a step-by-step reproducible pattern, from start to finish, that we can check?

Make sure you tell us exactly what you are doing as there are lots of ways to describe similar things and similar things don’t always work the same way.

If you can show us a video then please do so but make sure that we can see both the Layers Panel and the Swatches Panel.
