A warp for instance. It is not baked in. How do I get back to editing this or applying it?

I would have thought the appearance panel but I am yet to discover why that panel even exists.

Thanks

For a selected object the Appearance Panel gives you an overview and access to create and edit multiple strokes and fills including their blend modes.

thanks.

do you know how i can go back to editing a transformation?

also, when i apply a warp to an item, the applied gradient is not warped. please help. thank you.

edit: i realise that when i created a curve from the text, it created a group with each letter separately. how do i merge all these curves into one (not a compound path - just one single path?) thank you. or how do i get a an applied gradient to warp?

edit 2: chatgpt had this to say:

I apologize for the oversight! You’re right; gradients don’t warp automatically with objects in Affinity Designer. However, there’s a workaround you can use:

  1. Duplicate your object (the one with the gradient) so that you have two identical shapes.
  2. Apply the warp to one of the duplicates using the steps I mentioned earlier.
  3. Remove the fill from the warped duplicate (so only the stroke remains).
  4. Position the warped duplicate over the original object with the gradient.
  5. Adjust the opacity of the warped duplicate to blend it seamlessly with the gradient-filled object.

This way, you’ll achieve the desired effect of a warped gradient. Let me know if you need further assistance! 🎨

is this the solution?

this is crazy.

i came to affinity thinking v2 would be fairly decent.

in two days i discovered:

- no calligraphic brush despite being requested since 2017

- no smooth tool (likewise)

- no trace

- objects that get pulled out of their groups or artboards when being dragged inside their group or artboard.

- no tool search.

do you people use these app for professional purposes? honest question.

at this speed affinity will get AI by 2060...

I can't tell for V2 and Warp Tool but, with an object selected, many of the Tools re-present their interface + items in the Context Toolbar as soon they get re-selected in the Tools Panel.

Unless a V2 and warp user will pop-in, you might watch the various tutorials to get more light on the tools handling. You "two days" aren't possibly insufficient to learn or even get familiar with a new software with this amount of features.

Yes, I use Designer and Publisher for professional purposes. The small things you are complaining about do not affect my workflow. Never once I have wished for AI. However, I have been an illustrator for over 40 years. I find that everything is thousands of times easier now with software than they used to be when done by hand. I have no complaints.

you just have to click on the effect's thumbnail on the layers panel.
