Photo hangs when browsing font selection

Hello I'm using the latest version of Affinity Photo 2.5.3

When trying to change a font and using the font preview drop down, if I pause on a particular font to preview it, then I get the beachball for approx 10-15 seconds before it disappears. 

This makes browsing a font very slow. It does not do it in Affinity Photo V1.

1. Which version of macOS are you running?
2. Is it always hanging on the same font or any font?

Thanks for the reply. I'm running Ventura 13.2.1 and it's hanging on any font I think, but not all the time. It can preview some fonts okay, then some will hang.

I have created a video showing this happening, hope it helps. 

Unfortunately the video didn't capture the beach ball, but in the video it froze on Noteworthy for example. Where I pause for several seconds will show the beach ball

Hi @timm2006,

Thanks for the screen recording...

This is a known bug logged under AF-970 and relates specifically to the Noto fonts which are unfortunately macOS system fonts so can't be disabled or removed...

You should find that if you can avoid hovering over any of the Noto fonts for any length of time it should circumnavigate the issue i.e., move your mouse quickly from before to after the Noto section of the font list and vice versa...

Thanks for the workaround. I have tested this and indeed, avoiding the Noto fonts is okay. I tested in V1 1.10.8 and the Noto fonts are fine and don't hang in that version, if that helps.

Thanks for confirming, hopefully, we'll see a fix for this bug at some point soon, more so since those fonts are not an issue in v1.10.8...

This issue has been affecting me too, thanks @timm2006 for posting it. It was one of those things that I just accepted begrudgingly. I just skip past those fonts quickly to avoid the spinning circle
