  1. What Application are you using? Photo
  2. Are you using the latest release version? Yes
  3. Can you reproduce it? Yes
  4. Does it happen for a new document? Yes
  5. Give an accurate description of the problem for example it should include most of the following:
  •    What is your operating system and version MacOS 13.0
  •    Is hardware acceleration (in Preferences > Performance) ON or OFF ? (and have you tried the other setting?) On. I have tried Metal with HA, Metal without HA, OpenGL without HA.
  •    Provide a recipe for creating the problem (step-by-step what you did)/ What happened for you (and what you expected to happen)
    • Open a new document, or an existing image
    • Add a bunch of Live Filters and Adjustment layers above the background layer. Unsharp, clarity, vibrance, soft proof, etc. Set their values to something absurd so it's clear when they're on
    • Select these layers and group them. Name it "A1"
    • Select the A1 group, and in the Assets window, add a new asset from selection
    • Add an additional layer to the group in the Layers panel. I used a shape, but I suspect a fill or pixel layer would work as well.
    • Rename the group with the additional layer to "A2", and add it as another asset
    • Remove the group from the layer stack and re-add either A1 or A2 from the Assets window to confirm the group affects the image
    • Open a different image
    • Add either the A1 or A2 group from the Asset window to the new document. The group and the layers within do not affect the image, regardless of visibility, opacity, and blending mode.
    • Select the layers inside the group and move them outside. On my end, the result is:
      • Metal, when using the A1 group: the layers sometimes work
      • Metal, when using the A2 group: the layers always work
      • OpenGL: any layer, despite its type or effect, erases all the contents from the layers below
  •    Any unusual hardware (like tablets or external monitors or drives that may affect things) or relevant other applications like font managers or display managers.
    • None
  •    Did this same thing used to work and if so have you changed anything recently? (software or hardware)
    • No idea, this was my first time trying this workflow

Thanks for your report @Senshi!

I can confirm this is logged with our team (as 2 separate issues, one for Filters & one for Adjustments), which I've 'bumped' with your thread to bring to their attention once again now for you.

Unfortunately there's no workaround for this issue that I'm aware of currently, our apologies.

I hope this helps :)

Happy to hear this is on you guys' radar now! Looking forward to seeing this fixed ❤️
