Welcome to the Affinity Forums @ella.2!

Unfortunately your cursor is not visible in any of your screenshots and there is no 'Mouse Tool' in the Affinity apps - so I'm a little confused by your post currently.

The Move Tool in Affinity apps allows you to select objects directly on your page and uses an arrow cursor icon for the tool, similar to the regular mouse cursor outside of the Affinity apps.

Can you please provide screenshots/ a screen recording with your cursor visible and a further description of the issue you're reporting here, so I can advise further?

Please note if you are editing any of the Text layers shown in your document screenshot - the Affinity app will automatically switch from the Move Tool to the Artistic/Frame Text Tool during text editing. This is expected behaviour and cannot be changed at this time :)

Hi @ella.2 and welcome to the forums,

Looking at your second screenshot I think all you've done is inadvertently take a screenshot of your screen, (note the screen capture thumbnail in the bottom right corner) and then open the screenshot which would explain why you see a flattened Background pixel layer in your third screenshot...
