Issues with Lagging - Affinity Photo & Designer

To start off, I'm using a 2020 M1 MacMini, running the most current version of MacOS.

As an artist I use mainly Affinity Photo and Designer, and I have been having issues with a lot of lag as of late. It's been particularly slow when using the bucket fill tool for large areas, but generally just about anything is now causing the spinning beachball to show up. 
I've been looking up a lot of "fixes" and have tried the common suggestions, but I still have the same issue.
I open up Clip Studio and can do the same activity with no issues. So I'm figuring it has to be something in the settings somewhere. 
Although, as I stated above, I've tried most of the common suggestions found on the interwebs, I'm open to options, even if repeated. 
I really like Affinity a LOT and want to make full use of it, but I feel like my hands are tied.

It would help speed things up if you briefly listed which ones you have tried.

It also would be a good idea to include a smallish AD or AP file that you are experiencing the lags with & let us know which tools or procedures lag.

As R C-R outlines above, can you please expand on the steps you've already tried to resolve this?

Can you also please provide a screenshot of your current settings under Affinity Photo 2 > Settings > Performance, and a sample document where such issues occur?

Hey, I'm so sorry this has taken me SO long to reply. I had a lot going on in my life that put everything on hold. 
My computer was turned off for several days and I turned it back on and opened up Affinity so I could go back over all the things I had tried to fix the issue. 
For whatever reason, it seems to be currently working properly now. It used to take ages using the fill bucket to fill a large area with colour. (It would do it instantly in CSP regardless how many times I would do it)
But for now it seems to be working great! If I happen to run into issues again I'll come back to this thread and go through it again.
Dan, I'll still add that screen shot shot anyhow. Maybe you can see what is different in there.
