Gokul Balram Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Hi, I'm on Affinity Publisher 2.5.3, and I've run into a bug where turning bullets/numbered list off manually after one is created automatically results in an indent which seems to be "permanent" as the spacing section under the paragraph panel seems to indicate there is no indent, with first line indent set to 0. You need to then set a left indent, post which the software realizes there indeed is an indent set, changing the first line indent itself does not help, and neither does using backspace to try to clear the indent. Hangman Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Hi @Gokul Balram, It looks as though the first line indent field in the paragraph panel isn't updating correctly... After you remove the bullet using the context toolbar, entering 0 mm in the left indent text entry field (even though it's already showing 0 mm) and then hitting the tab key corrects the left indent field which you can then set to zero... Fair enough, but either which way, this is confusing behaviour, and I spent a good 15 minutes trying to figure what's going on, as the indent panels weren't updated. Ideal behaviour would be for the indent to just go away when the user turns bullets/numbering off Quote

RayByTheLake Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Hi, I'm on Affinity Publisher 2.5.5, and the bug you reported may or may not be the problem I'm experiencing. Have yet to find a way to insert a space (I assume this would be a TAB setting) between the bullet character and the text content for that bullet. I'm new to Affinity Publisher and the answer may be obvious, but darned if I can find it. Watched a handful of YouTube tutorials and ran through the Publisher Help file without finding an answer to what SEEMS like a simple setting. Not trying to hijack your post, but it seems like it COULD be a bug? Here's what I have now and have been trying to modify to get a space between the bullet and the "Point the way..." text. Quote
MikeTO Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 @RayByTheLake To increase the space between the bullet and the text you should: Set Paragraph > Bullets and Numbering > Text to a bullet followed by a tab - it should look like the screenshot below - you must press Return after editing this field If required, Set Paragraph > Bullets and Numbering > Tab Stop to a greater value Set Paragraph > Spacing > Left Indent to the same value as you set in #2 and set First Line Indent to 0 Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.6 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.6 for macOS Sequoia 15.5, MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) and iPad Air (M2)
RayByTheLake Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Many thanks for your prompt reply, Mike. Unfortunately, I cannot determine how to add the >> character. Do I just type ">>"? I don't see a portion of my screen that shows "Tab Stop 3 mm" as in your illustration. Here's what I have: Quote
MikeTO Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Click the dropdown arrow on the left side of the text field. It will open a menu from which you can select the tab.
