Greetings,

I'm new to Affinity 2, and I was wondering whether I could paint on a Mask, both add as well as subtract, with any any Brush/ Eraser?

     Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Rajnesh

Welcome to the forums @Dr1Omalpalli

Yes, you can do that.

Select the Mask layer, then paint using any of the Brush Tools as you would onto any other Pixel layer.

Just remember that a Mask layer is only concerned with the luminosity of the pixels (i.e. greyscale values) rather than the colour.

Did you try?

If you did try, and if it didn’t work, what were you trying to achieve and how did you try to achieve it?

Note: Because every pixel in a Mask layer must have a value between black and white (inclusive), erasing on a Mask layer doesn’t make sense (you cannot remove a value that must exist) so the software ‘converts’ the erasing action to be the same as painting in black.
