Abraxasstudio Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 I have off and on tried to load various third party assets on my iPad and have never had any luck. Ive tried in Photo, Designer and Publisher. I try to import from the assets menu and sharing to the various apps through Files - not sure what Im doing wrong. Attached is a capture of what I see. TIA for any help! Quote
walt.farrell Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 Can you be more specific about the assets? Where you got them, what the file names are, etc.? Abraxasstudio Posted August 3, 2024 Author Posted August 3, 2024 Sure. Thank you for responding. The assets are a part of a few different third party add on packages. the assets are distributed as a part of the packages as .afassets files. I’ll attach a screen cap. As I said above Ive tried do a share to the apps in Files and install from the hamburger menu in the assets window in all three Affinity apps and all that ever shows is the above error. Quote
walt.farrell Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 Thanks. Do you have any Assets categories showing up in the Assets panel at all? E.g., if you click on the blank field right above that message? If not, you probably need to perform an application reset, which at a minimum will remove any Assets you've added manually (though built-in Assets and Assets installed via the Account function will remain or can be recovered easily): Completely close the application. (On iPad, you can slowly drag up from the bottom of the screen until you get the array of running Apps, then flick the app upward off the screen to close it.) Click on the app to start it. When you see the Splash screen, quickly double-tap it with 1 finger. In the reset dialog, select Reset Assets, then perform the reset. Then try importing again, Note: For content from the Affinity Store (and Splat is something you might have gotten from the Store), it can be easier to use the Account dialog from the application Home Screen to install things automatically for you, rather than downloading and installing manually. pruus 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Abraxasstudio Posted August 3, 2024 Author Posted August 3, 2024 The reset worked. Had to reset everything - just resetting assets didn't do anything unfortunately. Time to reinstall things. Any idea about how this happened? Definitely don't want to happening again! Thank you very much for your help! Quote
walt.farrell Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 You're welcome, and no idea how it happened. It's odd that the reset for assets didn't work; I've never seen that. pruus Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 Just tested it on iPad with the latest software and with the newest beta: LUT’s can be imported, but are not working nor shown in list. A BUG. Quote

How do I get them back please ? Welcome to the Affinity forums. Sorry to hear you've experienced this problem. Can you describe when it started occurring? I think I would start trying to fix this by: Completely closing Designer 2. Restarting the iPad. Starting Designer 2, and when you get the Splash Screen quickly double-tap it with 1 finger. You'll get a Clear User Data dialog. Leave the options set to their defaults, and tap the Reset button. If that does not fix it, then in my experience you'll probably have to recreate the Assets, ideally from exported backups you've maintained (.afassets files), though for Assets from the Affinity Store you'll be able to restore them from the Store easily using the Account function. If you need to do that, close Designer fully again. Start it, and double-tap on the Splash Screen to get the Clear User Data dialog again. This time, also select Reset Assets. Monozstar Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Thank you so much! I ended up having to reset the assets to get it to work (Step 5) . I imported the asset categories from my iPad files, but I didn’t save everything, so I had to manually re-add what was lost—luckily, it wasn’t too much. What happened was, my iPad froze while I was adding new asset categories, and after restarting my iPad Pro a couple of times, I noticed the asset function had disappeared! It’s back ! I am very grateful ! Thank you 🙏🏼 Quote
walt.farrell Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 You're welcome. Glad to hear it worked, though it's too bad you had to do some manual recreation. It's harder (though not impossible with some 3rd-party programs) to backup/restore the internal files on an iPad than it is on a desktop, which might have avoided that problem. dannythedog11 Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Hey everyone, I just wanted to say that I’m experiencing exactly the same issues across all Affinity apps on iPad. I will attempt the same reset and add a comment afterwards. It is extremely frustrating and absolutely makes using the apps difficult, I've been using Affinity since well before V2 and this is by far the most annoying issue I’ve had to date. Fingers crossed Monozstar 1 Quote
