It might have helped others looking for a solution to the same problem if you had left your original question in place and replied with the solution that you found, but nvm (as somebody famous once said).

hi. i removed the question because i overlooked a pretty obvious issue: the duplicated curve had a (white) fill and was therefore hiding the smaller, original curve behind it.

 

there is a question of ux here though. it would have been helpful to show the curve behind in its actual appearance (with a stroke) when being selected - instead of just showing the blue wireframes that made me believe no stroke was actually being applied.

FWIW, you did not remove the question (you can't do that) but you can hide it from view by anyone other than the staff. To do that, click the 3 dots at the top right of the first post & choose "Hide."
