I am working on a football program and it keeps crashing Affinity Publisher.  It is a HUGE file - 1.7GB.  I am also trying to figure out how to reduce it's file size.  Help on that would be great.  It is currently 104 pages.  Do I need to make it into multiple files in sections?  My only issue there is my TOC and Index at the back - how would that work.

I just submitted a separate thread to the Bug side because Publisher keeps crashing trying to generate a Roster using Data Resource.  That file could not be more simple:  no graphics, one CSV file with 4 fields, 170 records.  Crashes every time.

I have shut my computer down completely and rebooted and that did not help.  I have not built a book this big before with so many graphics so any help would be appreciated.  I have linked all the graphics I can.

What kind of graphics files are you including in the document, how many, and are you Linking them or Embedding them?

Just adding to @walt.farrell's post above, could you use File > Save as Package then create a zip file that includes the .afpackage and Image folder and upload the zip file so we can take a look...

I'm assuming since your Publisher file is 1.7 GB that your graphics are embedded rather than linked so your image folder when creating a .afpackage file may be empty...

A lot depends on the format and dimensions of your graphical content... it would certainly help if you could either let us know more about the nature of the content, the publisher document dpi, the dpi and approximate dimensions of any raster graphics or better still upload your file so we can analyse and suggest possible ways to reduce the overall file size...

You should be able to create both if you have your text styles set up correctly, what is your main concern with both the TOC and Index?

Hi @Shelly,

Other than the Database Merge crash, are the crashes at random or when you try to perform a certain action in the app? If you can create a package like @Hangmanhas advised and upload it to our Dropbox here, i'll be able to see how the file acts on my computer.

I actually think I have narrowed it down to a specific graphic that was causing the issue.  It was only happening when I was exporting to PDF.  So I started exporting the pages in sections to narrow down the trouble maker.  I have replaced it and it seems to work ok.
