MikeTO Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 #1 - Colours are app settings: I was initially confused that changing the grid and guide colours changed my app settings and not just for the current document because they aren't labeled as app settings and the other controls are specific to the current page. I'd prefer that these were moved to Settings, but perhaps they could just be more clearly labeled? #2 - No indication of which spread you're setting the grid or guides for: This issue is specific to multi-page documents in Publisher, not to Designer or Photo. While it's great that the grid can be set differently for every spread, I believe most users want to change the grid for the entire document and might mistakenly change it for a single spread before figuring it out. There's not even a way to set the grid for an entire document with multiple masters without applying one master page to another. Some switchers from ID might also assume the grid is an app setting given that's how ID works. Others might assume the grid is only a master page setting given other apps have worked that way. If a user wants to change the grid for a document and sets it on spread X, they'll later notice that they just changed it for a single spread and then set it for the master. But spread X will remain overridden and there's no way to clear the override except by re-applying the master. (Setting spread X to the same values as A makes no difference, it's still an override.) It would be nice if Grid and Guides had labels near the top of the dialogs to indicate which spread you were setting for, such as "Pages 16-17" or "Master A". It would be even nicer if there was a popup list with options to set the grid or guides for the: Current spread Entire document <which would actually set it for all masters and clear all spread overrides> Followed by a list of specific master pages <so you don't have to navigate to the master page first> Rudolphus 1 Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.6 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.6 for macOS Sequoia 15.5, MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) and iPad Air (M2)
