In Publisher, how can I automatically insert the image's name?

If you mean the Publisher interface, an image's file name is automatically inserted as soon as the image resource is placed in the layout. Then the Layers panel shows the file name in the image layer, and also the Resource Manager automatically shows the file names of placed resources.

If you want to get a file name automatically inserted in a text frame of your artwork, this can currently only be done via Data Merge.
