Affinity tiffs will open only in MS Photo (which has no ability to save to other formats).

Also, my old version of Photoshop CS5 opens them, but not in Camera Raw, which is what I use most.

Is there a setting in the Affinity tiff dialog box to make them compatible, or a plugin for Irfanview?

Welcome to the Affinity forums.

When you Export a Tiff file you have several choices of Compression format. Perhaps your other applications don't like the Compression format you've chosen. You could try using None, or another compression format instead of the default.

Hi @salishutter and welcome to the forums,

This is working without issue here, could you upload a sample TIFF File where you're experiencing the issue so we can take a look?

RE: Affinity tiff file unreadability...

I have tried no tiff compression, 8 bit, 16 bit, bicubic, bilinear, etc., no difference. It also only applies to images that have been Panorama stitched. Ordinary adjustments can be read by Irfanview, and also opened in CS5 Camera Raw.

Hi @salishutter,

Many thanks for your file...

It opens for me in IrfanView without any issues so I'm slightly unsure why it isn't opening for you...

Thanks Hangman, I guess I should have started with the obvious and reinstalled Irfanview.

Not the first time there were issues with Win 11 too.

Still won't open in CS5 Camera Raw, will have to live with that.

I was hoping to use Affinty to supplant CS5 eventually anyway, if it does the job for me.

No problem, glad that’s working for you now…

Under the File Handling option of the CS5 Camera Raw Preferences is the TIFF option of ‘JPEG and TIFF Handling’ set to ‘Automatically open all supported TIFFs’?

Yes, it is. Maybe it is just the age of CS5, never had that happen before, nor with other editors.

What’s the logic or need to open the TIFF files in CS Camera Raw considering they are now processed RGB (or CMYK) files and no longer contains the data present in the original RAW file…

Hopefully you’ll find you can do most if not everything you need in Affinity Photo over time…
