itisme Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 If I have a text block... aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa BBB aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa Is it possible to apply FX to just the BBB part of the text, without affecting the rest? Or do I need to split it off completely into a new level. I know I can select the text and change things like font or colour or stroke and stuff with out "breaking" the text block... but what about FX? Quote
Fenrir0921 Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 This sounds great, but I don't think it's very feasible, especially in the case of a lot of text, which has a big impact on compatibility. Quote Designer/Photo/Publisher__win11-23H2 Designer__Mac

There is no way to define that Fx should be applied only to some elements from the layer. GarryP Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 In addition to the advice above, it is possible to apply the equivalent of some Effects to part of the text using Live Filters and Adjustments by painting on their masks, but Live Filters are only available in Photo and the ‘effect’ may be destroyed if the text changes. My attached image shows an example where each Live Filter or Adjustment has been ‘applied’ to only one word by filling the mask of each with black and painting over the word with white (the original text is red). Yeah I was thinking of using masks.. but had not gotten around to test it... So if the text block was done with a master... editing the original text block would edit all the layers you have... or is there another method to be able to edit the text black and change all the text layers in one go? This mask idea.. how dose it work with deforming images? Like if I place a wrap around image over this text block.. it will change the position of the words in every layer in the same way.. but will the mask change position? Quote
GarryP Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 If the Frame Text layer is on a master page then I believe that you would, as you have mentioned, have to have the same ‘effects’ applied to all of the same layers which are inherited from the master page. I’m not entirely sure how the in-built mask of an Adjustment or Live Filter adjusts (or not) with the layer it’s being applied to. I think its position and size is ‘set’ at the time it’s created but I haven’t done any testing to prove (or disprove) that. Someone else may have better information. Quote
