DelN Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Hi, I've deleted the Basic brushes for Affinity Photo 2.0 in error and I am not sure where to download them again, or whether I have to 'repair' Affinity Photo 2.5.3. Can you tell me what I should do. Thank you. Del Quote
Alfred Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 You can get the legacy Affinity brushes from here: https://affinityspotlight.com/article/get-legacy-affinity-brushes/ I don’t think there are any new ‘basic’ brushes in version 2 of the Affinity apps. Ron P. Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 In Affinity Photo, click on the green icon in the far right, looks like a head and shoulders. Then you should see a cloud with down arrow on the right. You can download them, and they are installed automatically. You can also check on your pc, "yourusername"/.affinity/Common/2.0/user to see if you still have a file called raster_brushes.propcol. I thought this was just for add-ons, purchases and freebies from Affinity, not content that comes included with the software. However, the link @Alfred mentioned above includes a download button for the V1 basic brushes & instructions for installing them in V2. Old Bruce Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Try this button from the prefernces before downloading. Assuming of course that you have backups of any and all purchased and home made brushes. However I think the OP should first check to see if he still has the raster_brushes.propcol file (found under %userprofile%/common/2.0/user ). The size should be rather large. Since the OP states only deleting the Basic Brushes, using the Reset button just might restore them. I think it's also possible to just rename the 2.0 folder found at the aforementioned location, to something like OLD2.0, and Affinity should rebuild it upon restart. Then the solution provided by Alfred will work. Finally, I uploaded the zip file I have on my pc as a backup. Downloaded a few years ago, from the store, the same link provided by Alfred. affinity-photo-brushes.zip R C-R and DelN 1 1 Quote Affinity Photo 2.6..; Affinity Designer 2.6..; Affinity Publisher 2.6..; Affinity2 Beta versions. I can't see how since the brush reset feature deletes every brush category except the V2 factory defaults. IOW, this would work only if the V1 Basic brushes were included with V2, but they are not. Assuming the OP wants the V1 basic brushes It's really simple -- just use the link @Alfred posted to get to where one can download & install the V1 basics. Just to be clear, do you mean the brush category named "Basic" with a set of round brushes, a set of round soft ones, & a set of round light brushes, each set only differing in their weights ... or something else, like maybe all the default brush categories? I was almost certain that category with those brushes was not part of the AP V2 app, so I was very surprised that in Settings > Miscellaneous a factory reset of the brushes would restore them. Did doing that on your system remove any other custom or downloaded brush categories you might have had installed?
