Fleasie
Hi - I've never posted on a forum before! I am entirely new to Affinity Designer so please excuse the woefully 'basic' nature of my query. I have designed a logo for myself on a new 'page' - the logo has several layers. Having ticked/selected the layers and exported it I then end up with the whole white page with the logo in the middle of it. How can I export just the logo itself? It's not something I can crop as it has rounded edges. The tutorials I have studied seem to focus on exporting a whole page. Many thanks for any urgent replies! Staff MEB Posted June 15, 2016 Staff Share Posted June 15, 2016 Hi Fleas, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) If the elements of you logo are all inside a single layer you can export it as a PNG to keep the areas around the logo transparent. To do this select the main layer, go to menu File ▸ Export, select PNG and in the Area dropdown on the bottom of the dialog change to Selection without background. If you need to create a single layer to put all logo elements inside, click the Add Layer icon (the third icon counting from the right) on the bottom of the Layers panel, then select all related logo layers in the Layers panel and drag to inside the newly created layer. You can select multiple layers pressing and holding ⇧ (shift) then clicking on the first and last logo's elements layers. All the layers in-between will be selected too. Staff MEB Posted September 16, 2016 Staff Share Posted September 16, 2016 Hi uncle808us, There's nothing special about it. When you go to menu File ▸ Export and select a format there's a dropdown on the bottom of the Export dialog called Area. You can use it to select what you want to export: the whole document, a selection (an object or layer) with or without background included, or a specific Artboard if your document contains artboards. R C-R
uncle808us, What might be puzzling to you is the "Area" dropdown is grayed out with "Whole Document" selected if you do not have anything selected when you choose File > Export. With anything selected (a layer, group, etc.), the "Area" dropdown is not grayed out & you have the three choices MEB mentioned.
