techtalkamerica
I'm brand new to Affinity but I went to open a CR2 files from my new Canon 80D and it has a purple haze over it (tried on multiple files). Any thoughts?
Staff MEB Posted June 7, 2016 Staff Share Posted June 7, 2016 Hello techtalkamerica, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) This is a known issue. Currently the Canon 80D is not supported. Please check this thread for more info. Affinity Photo has two RAW engines available, our own (Seriflabs) and Apple (Core Image RAW). So if Apple updates their RAW engine first, you will be also able to take advantage of it in Affinity Photo. You can change the RAW engine used opening a RAW image then going to menu View ▸ Assistant Manager, Raw Engine dropdown. You have to reopen the image again for the new setting take effect. bose10
HI,Apple has updated their Raw software https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205272for a number of new cameras including the Canon 80d, which i have downloaded and installed. However I still get a purple haze when viewing Raw files. Should the update automatically feed into affinity? thanks
Staff MEB Posted June 28, 2016 Staff Share Posted June 28, 2016 Hi bose10, Have you changed Affinity Photo RAW engine to Apple (Core Image RAW)? Currently Serif Labs RAW engine doesn't support this model (Canon 80D). To change the Affinity Photo RAW engine to Apple (Core Image RAW) open a RAW image then go to menu View ▸ Assistant Manager, Raw Engine dropdown. Change it to Apple (Core Image RAW). You have to reopen the image again for the new setting take effect. It should now display the image correctly without the purple haze. David4
I do hope your issue is solved. Another option is using an outside RAW developer. Consider Raw Photo Processor 64 (RPP 64), or your Canon RAW developer. Happy Affinity Photoing Cheers David
