Digbydo
I'm trying to turn a colour photograph (It's of the Forth Rail Bridge in Scotland) into a Black & White one however… having done that, I want to bring back some of the red parts of the bridge. I would also like to do this 'Dash of Red' in other photographs too perhaps even some where there wasn't any red in the original colour photograph. Is this possible and what is the best way to proceed? - Much'O Thanks for any help given. ~
Staff Callum Posted June 6, 2016 Staff Share Posted June 6, 2016 Hi Digbydo You can achieve this effect by adding a Black and White adjustment layer to your image and then painting onto it. To do this Make sure the brush colour is set to Black and then paint over the adjustment layer with the Brush Tool. You will notice that where you paint your colour will come back so all you will need to do is paint over the red sections :) If you paint over too much and bring back the colours you don't want you can paint over them in black to make them black and white again! R C-R
In the last sentence, don't you mean you can paint over them with white to make them black & white again? Off topic: somewhere in here is a joke about what is black & white & red/read all over .... ;) William Cartwright 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.4.1 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 Affinity Photo 1.10.8; Affinity Designer 1.108; & all 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.
