Guest adesign16
Hi there, I am creating a morale patch design (2 in x 3 in) for the first time in Affinity Designer that will eventually be embroidered. I noticed for Adobe Illustrator there's an embroidery plugin available to ensure your design is suited for an embroidery machine. Is there a similar plugin we can use for Affinity Designer? Also, how large does the border width need to be in my design? I haven't found any answers online and hope you can be of help.
Staff Leigh Posted June 6, 2016 Staff Share Posted June 6, 2016 Welcome to the forum adesign16 :D Affinity Designer doesn't support plugins, sorry. I've never designed a patch before so have no idea how wide a border should be. If you're getting a company to create the patches I'm sure they will have some specs for you to follow when designing the patch. Guest adesign16
Thanks for your reply. Do I have to convert a raster image to a vector if I am planning to include it in my design?
Staff Leigh Posted June 7, 2016 Staff Share Posted June 7, 2016 I guess it depends on the printer's artwork specifications but looking around the net some printers accept vector artwork and pixel artwork at 300 dpi. I would speak with your printer to see what they require :)
