Making a multi layer stencil (IM SO SORRY IM SO BASIC)

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am totally new to photo editing software (I did some photoshop at art school ages ago but I was terrible at it). Can someone give a wee step by step guide as to how I could make a multi layer stencil (banksy-esque). I know affinity isn't that different to photoshop and maybe even GIMP but those are the only tutorials I can find on this subject and they don't seem to work with affinity!

Cheers and apologies again for the basic-ness of my query!

Hi Greuzebermayer,

Please could you point me to one of the tutorials for Photoshop/Gimp that you tried to follow to see if I can find a way to get it to work for you? :)

Hi Callum,

Theres quite a few videos and they are all completely different. Basically I'm trying to create a 3 layer black, grey and white stencil and i want to seperate each colour into a separate layer to make up the stencil. Im probably doing something really obviously wrong but I can't figure it out. Ive posterised the image and done all that its just separating each colour and putting it into a layer by itself that I'm finding trouble with.

Thanks

G
