If you closed a Panel in a Studio, and you want it back, you will have to open it again via the Window menu.

Hiding the Studio is a different thing to closing a Panel in that Studio.

Good afternoon @GarryP After loading a studio reset  I set about finding what I had done wrong. In the left Studio panel I inadvertently clicked on close group.  It was this I was unable to get back. The Left Studio in the Window box was ticked I tied unticking and re-ticking but the left studio did not show up at all.  I can only presume the close group must have an unclose facility somewhere.  Cheers John

It does not.

However, once you have your Studio arranged as you prefer it, you can create a Studio Preset via the menu: Window > Studio > Add Preset...

Later, if you mess up your Studio, you can simply select that Preset via Window > Studio to restore it. Note that each application and each application Persona has its own Studio arrangement, and possibility for defining Studio Presets.

Thank @walt.farrell. Fortunately I had a studio pre-set saved from an earlier time. It did not have all I wanted so I added what I wanted and saved that pre-set.  Cheers John

In case it helps...

If you close a Panel or Group in a Studio then that Panel or Group will close.

If you close the last remaining Panel or Group in a Studio then that Studio will (temporarily) hide itself because there’s nothing for it to show.

If you then re-open a Panel which was in that (temporarily) hidden Studio then the Studio should automatically show itself again because there’s now something to be shown in it, as long as “Show <whichever> Studio” is ticked (checked).

If “Show <whichever> Studio” is not ticked (checked) then, when you re-open a Panel which was in that Studio, the Studio will not automatically show itself and it has to be shown manually by ticking (checking) “Show <whichever> Studio”.

That sounds like a Windows description, as macOS does seem to automatically show the relevant (left, right) Studio when needed.

On my Mac, it works the same way that @GarryP shows in his video. IOW, if the left studio is hidden & one of its studios is not checked in the dropdown, just checking it there does not automatically show that studio. However, if I select it again from that dropdown, then the Left studio opens to show it.

I found that (in Photo 2 on my Mac) if I did not have the Assets panel enabled, and I hid the Left Studio, that enabling the Assets panel via Window > Assets would automatically show the Left Studio.

On the other hand, I was able to get inconsistent results with Macro and Library.

  • It seemed that if Macro was enabled, and I hid the Left Studio, that the Window menu also showed Macro (and Library) as deselected. And selecting it would not automatically show the Left Studio.
  • But if Macro was enabled, and I first disabled it, then hid the Left Studio, then Window > Macro would again show the Left Studio, and the Window menu then showed both Macro and Library as enabled.

That works for me as well. But like you, I get inconsistent results with the other studio panels I have put in the Left Studio.
