Chris888 Posted June 17, 2024 Posted June 17, 2024 I am working with decorations in the paragraph pane. I would like to control the exact height of decoration by changing the indent by a very small amount. If I type in an exact value like "0.02", the control box will "round" it down to "0" in. If I type something like "0.08", it will round up to "0.1" in. Looking at the document itself, the decoration is indeed set to "0.02", or "0.08", despite what the indent controls show. Is there any way to set the application so it will show the exact amount down to the hundredth of an inch instead of 10th of an inch? As an example, in the image below, the top indent is in fact set to "0.02", but shows 0 in. Thanks for any help! Quote
MikeTO Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 Hi @Chris888 and welcome to the forums. I can't duplicate that on macOS with 2.5.2, it allows me to enter up to three digits. Have you perhaps changed your settings? Go to Settings > User Interface and check the value for Inches - the default is 3 decimal places but if you'd changed it to 1 that would explain why this isn't working correctly. Which version of Affinity are you using and which operating system? Chris888 Posted June 18, 2024 Author Posted June 18, 2024 Hi, I am on Windows version 2.5.2. I looked into settings and noticed it was 3. I even changed it to 4, restarted the app, and no effect. Also, Just in case it was something weird with the doc itself, tried on a different doc. Same thing. Very strange. Quote
Hangman Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 Hi @Chris888 and another warm welcome to the forums, I can confirm this is a bug on Windows... On Mac, this will work to five decimal places with no modifier and six decimal places with the Option Key modifier when Inches are set to six decimal places On Windows, this works to zero decimal places with no modifier only works to one decimal place with the Alt Gr Modifier Key when Inches are set to six decimal places Note 1: On Windows, this also affects the following settings in the Paragraph panel: Drop Cap - Distance to Text Hyphenation - Hyphenation Zone, Capital Zone, Paragraph End Zone and Column End Zone Bullets and Numbering - Tab Stop Tab Stops - Default Spacing Note 2: On Windows, this also affects the Transform panel but varies depending on the Units selected: With the Alt Gr modifier key and the respective units set to six decimal places in the Unit Settings panel: Pixels, Points, Picas, Millimetres and Centimetres are displayed to six decimal points Inches, Feet, Yards and Metres are displayed to one decimal point MikeTO and Chris888 2 Quote Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 Affinity Designer Beta 2.6.0.3125 | Affinity Photo Beta 2.6.0.3125 | Affinity Publisher Beta 2.6.0.3125 MacBook Pro M3 Max, 36 GB Unified Memory, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1, Magic Mouse HP ENVY x360, 8 GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, Windows 10 Home, Logitech Mouse

Chris888 Posted June 18, 2024 Author Posted June 18, 2024 (edited) Thank you both! I am older, but a total noob and have only started dabbling in DTP. I'm glad I'm not going crazy. Edited June 18, 2024 by Chris888 Hangman 1 Quote
