PaoloT
Hi, According to a research of Forrester commissioned by Adobe, the main goals of companies in managing information are: - integrate information supplied in different formats by different authors - customize information delivery for different targets - scale content development to different editions/versions The suggested solution is to rely on a component content management system (CCMS) to manage all the information. And get the information from there in a standard XML format that can be read by all the publishing tools. Adobe have their own CCMS, that can also serve as a translation memory and computer assisted translation (CAT) tool. The concept can be expanded to any other CCMS and CAT system. What is particularly relevant for Affinity is, in my view, the urgent need for interconnection between all the development/authoring tools. While Adobe publishing systems are integrated with their and other's information management system, Publisher is currently close to everything (apart for the obsolete Word file format). On the consumer side, Publisher has no way to easily redistribute content in other formats, and toward different consumption media (web, ePub readers). I hope this is an area that will be strengthened in the near future. If Publisher has not to be limited to be a graphic tool, but can develop into a versatile communication tool, there are still a few things missing.
