Petar Petrenko
Since version 10, Windows added Apple feature to reopen the apps which have been opened when you shut down the computer. At this point only Microsoft (and maybe some Adobe ones) are adjusted to this feature. Can we expect Affinity to join them? myclay 1 Quote All the latest releases of Designer, Photo and Publisher (retail and beta) on MacOS and Windows. 15” Dell Inspiron 7559 i7 ● Windows 10 x64 Pro ● Intel Core i7-6700HQ (3.50 GHz, 6M) ● 16 GB Dual Channel DDR3L 1600 MHz (8GBx2) ● NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4 GB GDDR5 ● 500 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD ● UHD (3840 x 2160) Truelife LED - Backlit Touch Display 32” LG 32UN650-W display ● 3840 x 2160 UHD, IPS, HDR10 ● Color Gamut: DCI-P3 95%, Color Calibrated ● 2 x HDMI, 1 x DisplayPort 13.3” MacBook Pro (2017) ● Ventura 13.6 ● Intel Core i7 (3.50 GHz Dual Core) ● 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 ● Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 1536 MB ● 500 GB SSD ● Retina Display (3360 x 2100)
walt.farrell
That's an interesting thought. While waiting, if it's the case that you would always want the Affinity applications to start when you reboot Windows, you should be able to tell Windows to do that. The Task Manager will let you look at the list of Startup Programs, I think, though there are also other ways. But the below method definitely works for the Msix installed(non windows store) version of Affinity Photo ; Win + R, type shell:appsfolder, Win + R, type shell:startup, drag the Affinity Photo icon from the appsfolder to the startup folder. That creates a shortcut which will then autolaunch the App upon the next startup. For Microsoft Store Versions, you would have to create a shortcut and type the below bold line in. I have no idea about the MS-Store productid of Affinity Photo. ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid= https://www.howtogeek.com/364263/how-to-open-windows-store-apps-on-startup-in-windows-10/ walt.farrell 1 Quote Sketchbook (with Affinity Suite usage) | timurariman.com | artstation store Windows 11 Pro - 23H2 | Ryzen 5800X3D | RTX 3090 - 24GB | 128GB | Main SSD with 1TB | SSD 4TB | PCIe SSD 256GB (configured as Scratch disk) |

carl123
If I understand the OP correctly, he just wants the specific Affinity app(s) that were opened when the computer was last shut to be reopened e.g. If you were working on a Publisher document and shut down to go to bed, then in the morning only Publisher would open again Not sure there is a way to do that in Windows alone myclay 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. myclay
That feature exists since Win 10. Canva/Serif would have to modify their program. Petar Petrenko
Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. What I want is if I left a document open in Publisher, then when I restart the computer should restart Publisher and open the document the document. Something like in a sleep mode. carl123
I believe Publisher already has the option to reopen a document when Publisher is restarted. Just need the 1st option Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Petar Petrenko
I left a document open in Publisher and shutdown the computer. When I started the computer and open Publisher, I got a message that the document must be repaired. wonderings
This is a scary thing to do in my opinion. Always save your work and shut down. Leaving work open and shutting down seems like a recipe for disaster. Not something I would ever trust a computer to do properly, Mac or Windows. Assuming you are a pro user, these files are what you make your living with, not something I would gamble with. wonderings
1 minute ago, Petar Petrenko said: Not on Mac. Never failed. I use a Mac for work, and know it is pretty good, but why would you ever want to risk a potential of something going wrong with a file you make money from? I avoid having to do the same thing twice as much as I can. The few seconds it takes to save a file and close an app is worth it for even the rare change that something goes wrong and a file is corrupted. fde101
1 hour ago, wonderings said: save a file and close an app If the app supports auto-save, it should be saving automatically when you shut down the computer (as long as you do it correctly), otherwise it should be prompting to save the file. Quitting the app should make no difference whatsoever for most "normal" Mac apps.
