ad2eric Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 (edited) Hello. I have encountered a minor issue with Artistic Text whereby, having place some text on a curve, selecting all of the text, changing the font size, and then deleting the text object with a view to moving it to a different layer, the delete request is not honoured. Attached is a trivial example with history that demonstrates the bug. The get-round is to select any object other than the text object then re-select the text object and carry out the 'move' (cut and paste) to the different layer. firstdefence Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 I don't think this is a bug, you have to tell the curve it's going to receive text by clicking on the curve you want to paste to with the artistic text tool. Simply clicking on the curve in the layers panel will do nothing because it doesn't know you want it to be a text curve until you click on it with the artistic text tool. Old Bruce Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Are you wanting to move the Text, meaning just the words, to a different Curve? Are you wanting to move the Text on a Curve to another layer? Why cut and paste if all you want is to move it to a different layer? Drag it in the layers panel. If you are needing the Words to be moved to another Curve you have to copy the text, the words, not the Text on a Curve layer. Do that by using the text caret to select the text and copy/cut and then use the Text tool to turn the different Curve into a Text on a Curve layer and paste. Note: For about forty years I too used "jumped" instead of the required/expected "jumps", not sure how I got into that habit and also not entirely sure how I eventually noticed it. ad2eric Posted June 9, 2024 Author Posted June 9, 2024 Thank you for your responses. Old Bruce: there are literally hundreds of layers involved and dragging and dropping the text object from one layer to another is impractical. The sample file with its history showed the issue in a trivial example. Agreed that in a simple design dragging and dropping is the way to go. A correction to my initial report is that used the term 'delete' when I really meant 'cut' (cmd-X on a Mac). Further background is that the text for organisational purposes needs to be a separate layer and shows over an underlying curve in the final design. Hence the process of copying the underlying curve and adding the text to the copy - followed by the 'move' to the other layer. Quote

That’s depressingly common! It’s probably just been widely shared in that incorrect form, complete with the unnecessary two occurrences of the word ‘the’ (either of which could be changed to ‘a’ and still leave a valid sentence). There are several (many?) shorter pangrams, some of which seem less contrived than others. Here are a few examples: Pack my box with five dozen liquor jugs. Jackdaws love my big sphinx of quartz. Sphinx of black quartz, judge my vow. Here’s one which is slightly longer, but it neatly comprises only five words: Amazingly few discotheques provide jukeboxes.
