bobdobbs Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 I have an object. I would like it to bigger. There are no obvious controls to make this happen: no handles to drag. The parameters in the transform panel are grayed out and cannot be edited. The official documentation on scaling is incomprehensible: It directs me to push a button that doesn't exist either on my keyboard or within the Designer UI. So how do I scale up an object? Quote
bobdobbs Posted June 8, 2024 Author Posted June 8, 2024 Also I've discovered that I can't move the object either. If I select the move tool, select the object and drag, then the move tool simply draws a blue rectangle, as if I'm trying to select an area. Quote
BlueLiner Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 I would suggest some of the great Designer tutorials on YouTube. Here is one below from Technically Trent. He has a lot of good current content. Moving and resizing is covered at about the 7 minute mark, but it is worth watching the whole video if you are new to Designer Quote

If we can see what you can see then it’s usually easier for us to diagnose the problem and, hopefully, come up with a solution. Can you show us a full-screen screenshot where the layer you want to modify is selected and visible in the Layers Panel? Quote
G13RL Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Perhaps the object is locked? If so, click on the padlock to unlock it, then you can move or modify it. Quote
h_d Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Could it be the margins? If so, you can remove them or resize them via File>Document Setup>Margins, or show and hide them via View>Show Margins. Are you sure it is the Move Tool (arrow cursor) not the Node Tool (triangle)? Maybe this helps too: Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1

It is not clear what documentation you are talking about. What is the name shown at the top of this document? If it is a help topic it should at least name the button. What is that name? Are you sure it says it is a button?
