HamsterDR
I am checking out the free-trial version of AP. Currently, I use LightRoom and DxO which are both non-destructive editors (they never change the original image and adjustments are saved as instructions which are only applied when outputting an edited image). My understanding is that AP does not operate in this way. Can someone help me understand how AP works with the original image and what I must do to preserve that (untouched) original image? Is this behavior any different when using AP as an external editor (plugin) in Apple Photos? David
Staff Leigh Posted May 24, 2016 Staff Share Posted May 24, 2016 Welcome to the forum HamsterDR :) When you open a RAW image into Affinity it's opened into the Develop Persona. This is where you can make adjustments to your RAW image. These changes are not written back to the original RAW image. In order to save the changes made in the Develop Persona you need to save the file to a .afphoto file or export to an image such as .jpg, .png etc... The same applies in Apple Photos. If you use an Affinity Photo Extensions to edit a RAW image it will be saved as a JPG. Apple Photos also gives you the option to Revert to the Original image.
