Like for opening any file with any other app, the first step is to transfer the file to the Mac. There are several different ways to do this, depending on the capabilities of the camera, which is why that isn't covered in detail in Affinity help. Some cameras come with dedicated software to do this; some connect via WiFi or a USB port & may or may not appear as an external hard drive; & so on.

The best place to look for info about this is the camera manual, but depending on its capabilities you could probably use the Apple Photos app that comes with all new Macs, iPhoto if you have a version of it the OS running on your Mac supports, or the Apple Image Capture app. Each of these Apple apps has its own builtin help & the two photo apps have additional Apple provided online support articles, which you may want to check out if your camera manual doesn't tell you what you need to know, or you just want to explore the Apple-provided alternatives.

If you need more specific help with this from this forum, please provide the make & model of your camera, the model of your Mac, & the OS X version it is running, since your options will vary depending on all of those things.

chatterbox, affinity photo is not a dam software, so it doesn't manage image libraries. like R C-R said, you have to transfer the shots from your camera to your mac, then you can open then in AP.

take care,
