KiwiB Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 When you feather a selection it should not be automatically applied where the selection reaches a frame edge. But in AP that is what happens. It seems to be especially noticeable at the side frame. Consider a sky edit as an example - surely you would want the feathering to apply only to the horizon edge of the sky. Photoshop sorted this out years ago. Please fix this. Quote
Staff MEB Posted May 24, 2024 Staff Posted May 24, 2024 Hi @KiwiB, Welcome to Affinity Forums How did you create the selection? Have you tried with the Free Hand Selection Tool? Can't you draw it a bit more above the edge of the canvas? Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
KiwiB Posted May 25, 2024 Author Posted May 25, 2024 Thanks for your reply. I used the Selection Brush, and the Quick Mask method - both when feathered produce the same result. How do you extend a selection beyond the canvas edge? I remember that Photoshop also had this issue but they rectified it some years ago - now their feathering applies only where the selection does not contact the image frame, as it should. Quote
KiwiB Posted May 25, 2024 Author Posted May 25, 2024 Hi MEB, I have now also experimented with the Freehand Tool Method, and although that appears to allow selections beyond the image edges, once feathering is applied, the same problem results. Quote
