Bryce
I'm on the Mac and trying to paste the URL with command+V only puts in "v" However, i can rightclick in the space and choose paste after clicking clear button.
Hangman
Hi @Bryce, This is working without issue for me... Are you pasting into the URL field when there is an existing URL in the field or are you deleting the existing URL before attempting to Cmd V... If there is an existing URL in the field, when you left mouse click in the URL field does it highlight the URL? Old Bruce
Check your Designer preferences and see if Command + V is still the (default) shortcut for Edit > Paste. If it is then change it to something else and back again to Command + V. MikeTO
I can duplicate this issue. Draw a QR code Click the Data field in the Context Toolbar - the dialog opens and the URL field has a blue focus rectangle Press Command+V - a "v" is entered into the URL field You have to click in the URL field which will select the text and then you can press Command+V. This isn't specific to the QR code window - other parts of Affinity have this issue, too. For example, choose Text > Interactive > Insert Hyperlink and assuming the window defaulted to something like URL, the URL field will have a blue focus rectangle. Press Command+V and a "v" will be entered into the URL field. I've tried both ways - to paste with it in and also to clear. when I left click and choose paste without clearing first - nothing happens, not even a menu. I have to clear first, then right click, then paste.
Old Bruce
I am assuming that Command + V works everywhere else in the Affinity applications. So perhaps there is something in what you have on the clipboard (the URL) that is causing this. Can you paste it into a text frame? It doesn't matter what is on the clipboard, any text will do, and it can be pasted into other fields with blue focus rectangles, it's just the URL field in QR and Hyperlink. Please see the steps I provide above - this is likely specific to the version of macOS if you and Hangman can't replicate it. Bryce
Ok. I see what you are saying and you are right that does work. It just seems strange that when I click clear and command V that "v" would go in. If I have to click in to get the URL to paste, why does the "v" paste if I haven't clicked in? Maybe more of a UI issue?
anto
@Hangman It seems like a bug. I have the text "text" copied to the clipboard. When the link field is not selected and I try to paste the text using Cmd+V, it is pasted "v". Again paste - my text. 2024-05-23 о 19.43.07.mov

The "v" is the text you have typed, the Command key is ignored, and so the "v" is entered. Having said that, I would think that this is either a bug or a poor decision for a new and improved user interface design. I agree, it looks as though the first instance of Cmd V is giving the field focus but at the same time pasting 'v', the second instance of Cmd V is correctly pasting the URL but with 'v' in place... This only appears to affect the URL option, all the other options work correctly... anto
The behavior of Windows is even more different. In the same case, the drop-down form closes and the text is inserted into the page.

Staff NathanC Posted May 24 Staff Share Posted May 24 Hi @Bryce I've now logged this with the developers, thanks for letting us know. I've also referenced in the report that the same issue can be observed in the Hyperlink Properties dialog.
