gbda Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 After upgrading to v2.5 through Apple App Store. Publisher no longer opens, crashes everytime. I have updated system and restarted machine. I have attached crash message Mac Mini Sonoma 14.5 M1 Chip 8GB memory error-message.pdf
gbda Posted May 23, 2024 Author Posted May 23, 2024 I uninstalled Publisher and downloaded the newer version. Software works ok now
tombro Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 I'm having the same, nothing works properly and then it hangs on quitting. MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) macOS Big Sur 11.7.10
gbda Posted May 23, 2024 Author Posted May 23, 2024 tombro, are you able to reinstall software? I haven't used software to test, but at least it is opening
tombro Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 I have reinstalled, but it's made no difference. The file opens okay, but one of the images is distorted. When I click on a box to move it, it seems to select some sort of 'ghost box' and doesn't snap properly. Then after a while, it just hangs. The same happens for any text or image box I try and select.
tombro Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 I have reverted to 2.4.2 and everything is fine again. Download is here: https://store.serif.com/en-gb/update/macos/publisher/2/
tombro Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 Sorry, just saw that you purchased through the App Store. Not sure if you can use standalone downloads.
Dan C Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 Hi @gbda, Welcome to the Affinity Forums & sorry to hear you're having trouble! I can confirm that our team have identified an issue with 2.5 for some users and we're working on rolling out a fix ASAP - ____________________________ @tombro the issue you're reporting sounds separate to the launch issue being reported in this thread - can you please create a new thread with as much information as possible regarding your system/file so we can investigate this further? tombro Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 Yes, I will do, although rather busy at the moment, so I'll have to leave it for a bit. Dan C 1
kylemj6977 Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 This is also happening to me with the Windows version of the update to 2.5. The file opens but it cannot be edited and the app crashes.
Dan C Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 Hi @kylemj6977, As above, if the Affinity apps are successfully launching past the 'Loading Fonts' stage for you then this will be a different issue than the one raised in this thread. Therefore can you please create a new thread with as much information as possible regarding your system/file so we can investigate this further?
Staff Patrick Connor Posted May 23, 2024 Staff Posted May 23, 2024 We have now released a replacement build 2.5.1 on the Mac App Store which should resolve this issue of Mac Applications crashing on startup. Sorry for the inconvenience this caused. This build has not been released on the Affinity Store, which remains on 2.5.0, as it did not have the problem. Mac App Store updates are done automatically next time you run your software after it is available in the Mac App Store. If this does not happen for you, open the Mac App Store app and go to the Updates page and then Store > Reload page or press CMD+R. This should hopefully force the update to show. (Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world which can mean it may take up to 72 hours for your update to be available). thomasallen63 Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 2.5.0 launches okay, but when I open the file I was working on yesterday, all tools are inactive. A few seconds later it hangs (spinning beachball) and I have to force quit. I. 'm going to try to uninstall/reinstall.

The next time you start Publisher, could you first open the Font Manager and then when you open the document could you share a screenshot showing the status of the document's fonts?
