Font display error (merge error?)

Recommended Posts

Just like you can see in the video. There are at least 6 fonts that have been combined into the same font weight, and I can't tell which font they are.

I'll attach the file that involves the font, and hopefully rule it out soon, it's very important to me.

I don’t think this is an Affinity problem. It looks as though the font files are faulty.

我不认为这是亲和性的问题。看起来字体文件好像有问题。

Prior to version 2.4.2301, there was no such issue

Yes, under normal circumstances, how can different fonts be merged together?

My screenshot wasn’t from Affinity version 2.5, it was from iFont (a font management app) on iPad.

These fonts are a mess.

Some have no PostScript Name.

In some the PostScript Name is in Chinese (which is wrong).

Some have have wrong encoding and language codes.

Some have Chinese names in fields marked as Latin/English.

It appears that Affinity has made changes to the font name handling (probably as a part of the changes for variable fonts) and it is now less tolerant of these old broken fonts. Seems to be the case as there are now 4-5 of these posts regarding these old Chinese fonts. Wish someone would fix them all.

The fact they worked at all in the past is sheer luck.

The issue "Some specific chinese fonts not appearing in app" (REF: AF-3118) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.5.2.2483".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Affinity Info Bot to notify us.
