You're using with for example an Isometric Grid? In Windows I find that you must first use the Cycle Selection Box (.), then the Set Selection Box is enabled/accessible.

Or you alter the object, like Skew, then use the Cycle Selection Box. Then the Set Selection Box can be used.

Hi Ronnyb,

This seems to be working for me, when I cycle through the selection box to regular bounds after rotating or skewing (as Ron suggests) an object, the Set Selection Box option is enabled and sets it as expected.

As reported it doesn't work on 90/180/270 degree angles.

I think Serif wants us to be only creative in finding workarounds to use their tools.

An issue raised in this thread ("Cannot Set Selection Box for Objects Rotated by 90°, 180° or -90°") has now been reported to the developers by the testing team (Ref: AF-1822). Thank you very much for reporting this issue to us.

that's already logged with dev.

Just pointing out that those angles don't work at the moment and that it was already reported just in case @ronnyb was trying to have this work on given angles.

In these cases the box is the same. It's just oriented in another direction. It doesn't prevent you from snapping/aligning etc as if it was "properly" straightened (Regular bounds). I see your point, though, and agree it should work, even if just for consistency's sake.

Oh, come to think of it it should be corrected as a bitmap or gradient may rotate with the box instead of rotating the contents with the gradient tool.

I believe this has been previously marked internally by the Dev team as 'by design'...

I can see from the internal bug report that it appears our development team have confirmed that the behaviour with 90, 180 & 270 degree rotated objects and Set Section Box is expected, with the following reason:

"Because, even though the box ‘points’ a different direction, it’s the same box."

The box is the same - whatever happens with his content if rotated those angles is irrelevant to its purpose. You can still align/snap to it as if it was properly straightened or am I missing something?

[EDIT] One reason is object's width/height is not properly reported thus possibly affecting Make Same: Width and Make Same: Height functions.

Was just recreating this to show.

Hi  @ronnyb, @Return,
Set Selection Box not working with rotated 90,180,270 angles is a known issue that's already logged with dev. There's also issues with lines which are also logged. Is there anything else not working besides those issues?

I can upload file to private Dropbox folder….

Please do so, thanks. Here's the upload link as requested.

@MEB I can't reproduce the bug  anymore... I'll keep an eye open for it and report here if it resurfaces ....
