Hey, Affinity Teams,

I’d like to ask a feature add on for the compound shapes tool on the IPad.

Now the compound shapes on the iPad works when the shapes are selected, while press option key and click one of the geometry tool, and the compound shape will be created.

But, the thing is after the compound shape is created to be an add(or any other) compound shape, it can not be changed to the subtract(or any other) compound shape as it works on the Mac. Also, when a more complexed shape wants to be created by using the compound shape tool, for example, when i create two separate shape and use the compound shape tool to add them to one compound shape, and after, i create a new shape and i want to subtract from the previous add compound, i can not, but this kind of shapes could be created on the mac with the affinity designer.

I’m wondering if the compound shapes tool could be modified to work just like it is working on the Mac. Thank you!

Yes, it can.

Have you read the Help, to see how it is done? https://affinity.help/designer2ipad/en-US.lproj/pages/ObjectControl/compound.html

Layer Options To change the compound mode subsequently:
  1. On the Layers panel, expand the compound and select an object other than the bottommost.
  2. From Layer Options, select an alternative Compound mode.

I’ve read the instruction, thank you, Walt.

but on the iPad version, it’s slightly different from the Mac version of the AD, i just figured it out after reading the instruction.

i will upload my errors and trials from you guys if you are on the iPad like i do.

on my first image, if I’d like to switch my compound shape from xor to add, by clicking on the text layer, while holding or not holding the opt key on the keyboard(because holding or not, it did not have any changes), it can’t be switched like it will do on Mac, but if i select both the text layer and the shape layer, while holding the opt key on the keyboard, a new compound shape can be created like i showed on the second image.

Thank you Walt, for your link!
