Affinity Designer crashes when trying to open Document Setup if Windows' format settings have an illegal character

Recommended Posts

Took me a while to hunt down the cause of this issue that has plagued me for a few years, ever since V1. Apparently, Affinity software crash when attempting to open Document Setup if your Windows format has a minus sign (−) as the negative sign symbol instead of the common dash (-).

Happens regardless of software version, every time, in all documents. Happens regardless of Windows 11 version, with and without hardware acceleration. Attached is a video of the bug, the resulting DMP, and a log from my Event Viewer for good measure ( ͡~͜ʖ ͡°)
