When I choose a color on the color wheel, it does not display correctly

Recommended Posts

I am having an issue where when I choose a color on the color wheel, it doesn't display correctly. You can see in my attached screenshot, that I am choosing a red color, but it is displaying as black. I can provide more instances of this happening, but I don't know how to correct the issue. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Your file behaves as it should.

I have no idea why it isn't doing as expected for you.

Maybe someone in here can get to the bottom of it, but it's beyond me.

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

These are not my own words but I sure like this quote.

I would check the color profile assigned to the display/monitor. The color looks right in the Layers panel, but wrong on the workspace.

If my color settings need to be adjusted, I'm open to suggestions. This is out of my understanding

I was not referring to your color setttings within the Affinity application, but your OS settings for the color profile assigned to your display/monitor.

I don't know enough about macOS yet to provide more than a suggestion that you check that possibility.

I wouldn't think this would be a problem. The color wheel itself shows the correct colors. If there was an OS setting that was affecting my colors, it should also affect those color elsewhere. This is an issue within Affinity as far as I can tell

No - Affinity uses (correctly) the ICC profile for the monitor for painting/drawing on the canvas. OS color management is used for UI.

Can you help me better understand how to update my Mac settings to make these compatible?

As write Walt "your OS settings for the color profile assigned to your display/monitor", try show screenshot with this settings (not Affinity settings).

Sure, I'm attaching a screenshot of my settings. These are (I assume) default, as I do not recall ever adjusting these.
