Issue Exporting large pdf in Affinity Photo

Recommended Posts

Hi

Affinity Photo crashes when exporting to a 150x225cm pdf.

The file is flattened and contains one photo with few adjustments like curves.

Also tried increasing ram capacity in settings.

Both MacOS and Affinity Photo has recently been installed with latest versions.

Is this a bug? If so pls fix asap Affinity dev!!
And if you had similar experience, feedback is appreciated.

What are the pixel dimensions of the photo? What do you mean by ‘fattened’?

Was suppose to be "flattened". Sorry.

Duh! I should’ve been able to work that out. Sorry.

About 18000x25000.

300 ppi is overkill for a 150 cm × 225 cm image. If you change the ‘DPI’ setting to 200 the demands on system resources will be greatly reduced but it should still look OK.

Thanks for the feedback Alfred.
It is in general for print to others, and viewing distance can be close. So will continue try keep "overkilling" to max quality.
If it was a one time lower end outside poster thing, then sure, your point makes a lot of sense:)

@Darner I've setup a test document (150x225cm/300DPI) with some shapes, brush strokes, placed TIFF file. It's exporting out to PDF without any crashes occurring. Can you provide any other info on your document itself or a copy of it and your export settings?

Thank you.
It was an Affinity Designer vector file. Not too much fancy stuff in terms of content, no placed images or similar. Basically shapes, grafients and few FXs.
Export cmd opt shift, to pdf.
