A_B_C
Hi JGeddie, and welcome here … :) You will have to export your image in order to save it as a JPEG file. Simply choose File > Export, and you will see plenty of options. Alternatively you can use the Export Persona to create JPEG files from your image. I would also recommend to have a look at the very good help files of Affinity Photo (Help > Affinity Photo Help). There you will find more about the export options of Affinity Photo. Cheers, Alex :)
jkehoe
Hi, Just a note regarding saving an image in afphoto format: these file types allow us to leverage all the tools built into Affinity Photo (and Designer). I routinely save all works in progress in Affinity file formats so I can return to them much later. For example, I'm now testing using the many kinds Layers in Photo and saving all that in afphoto format. Then I export a version (File > Export), usually to jpeg. A day or a week later I may look at that jpeg file and decide that it needs more or less sharpening, so I go back to the afphoto version, recheck my settings there and then export a newer version. It's fun and powerful ;-)
R C-R
Adding slightly to what has already been said, keep in mind that JPEG is a lossy format -- there will always be some loss of quality if you store your files as JPEGs, & the quality loss will increase if you make repeated edits to the JPEG. Big_Shon
File > Export JPEG should only be used for archival when disk space is the primary consideration. Because JPEG images lose quality each time they're opened, edited and saved, it should be avoided for archival situations when the images require further processing. aosk
Hi, recently bought the software and been taking a course at Udemy. Whatever I try, I don't get any options of Exporting, except as an Affinity files. What am I doing wrong?
