Immediately after updating to 2.4.1 (and continuing through an update to 2.4.2), Affinity Designer (EDIT: And Affinity Publisher!) is stalling after I open it. I cannot open any file or create a new file. The dialog box for creating a new file still functions, but once I press CREATE, nothing happens.

Nothing will open, but it's using a lot of processing power (CPU at 25%).  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, and that made no difference. Other than updating, the only recent changes I've made that might affect Affinity Designer is installing multiple new fonts on my system.

I'm using Windows 11. I only found one crash report (see attached).

I forgot to add that I cannot close the programs either. I've used the Task Manager to close them. cd83a7aa-3166-4d50-a4a4-b5b684a9fead.dmp

Affinity Photo is not stalling... my mistake. It's just Designer and Publisher. Also, there is a crash report for Publisher.

You could also check the Windows Eventviewer for an entry at the time AF hangs/chrashes.

I found the following:

The program Designer.exe version 2.4.1.2344 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.

Details attached.

Affinity Designer is stalling/freezing every single time I open it. It is unusable at this point. Would it make sense for me to uninstall it and reinstall an older version?

Thanks so much for your help.

What would be my next step? Literally the programs are unusable, and my consulting work can only be opened with these programs. I'm losing business. Any recommendations? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it seemed to make no difference. Is it possible that recent installation of multiple fonts is affecting the programs? I'm really at a loss.

You have to wait for Affinity staff to jump in here.

I looked at you logs, but as I'm not so familiar with reading dumps, I Can not say whats wrong.

Which kind of installer did you use. the MSIX or EXE installer? In case of an MSIX installation, I suggest to completely uninstall all products and try the EXE installers. They can be found here:
Go to your Affinity shop account -> V2 Licenses and Download, scroll down and you will see this:

Thanks so much! You were so helpful, I thought you were Affinity staff.

I will try the EXE installers. Really appreciate it.
