Publisher 2.4 crashes during datamerge with nested layouts

Recommended Posts

Hi @anto,

While I can confirm I see the same crash, my first question would be, 'why' do you have nested Data Merge Layers, what are you attempting to achieve by having them nested?

Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5
MacBook Pro M3 Max, 36 GB Unified Memory, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1, Magic Mouse
HP ENVY x360, 8 GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, Windows 10 Home, Logitech Mouse

They allow you to create complex cyclic data merges.
The first merge layer waits until the nested one fills all the cells, etc.

Here is example, but I wanted to try to do something even more complicated.

That makes sense and yes, frustrating about the crash once you hit three nested data merge layers...

The issue "Data merge with 3 nested data merge layout objects crashes Publisher" (REF: AF-2660) has been fixed by the developers in the latest beta build (2.6.0.2805). The fix is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Affinity Info Bot to notify us.
