What do the world icons next to some styles mean?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what the 'world' icon in the style panel means and why the icon only shows for some styles? I didn't notice any help documentation about them. All the styles work as expected with or without the icon.

The screenshot below shows 'The Shizzle Part THREE' which is part of 'The Shizzle Style and Brush Pack' installed from the Account Window. The first 20 styles have the icon and the following 6 don't. The other parts, ie ONE & TWO don't show the icons.

Thanks

I think they're just part of the name of the style. And on Windows, they're black/white, not colored as on macOS.

I think you are right. The tooltip that appears when I hover the pointer over any of them includes the icon & if I open the Rename Style... item via a right-click on any of them the name shown includes the icon, like below:

Makes me wonder why they are so named but also if we could rename others & how useful that might somehow be....

You can indeed insert emojis or dingbats in a file name or in fields that require a name…
On Mac, you do it via the 🌐 button or the menu Insert emojis.

Good to know ... but do you have any idea why somebody like the Shizzle creator would want to do that?

I have no idea about what this particular person can have in his mind but I can imagine that for some people, it can help to visually classify things using such emojis as prefix.

This is one of the reasons I dislike emojis. They can be uninformative and or confusing and or misinterpreted to the extent that written clarifications and explanations are required [not enough coffee emoticon] + [moderate nicotine fit emoticon]

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

By the way, I just thought to take a look at The Shizzle Reference and found this:

MYSTERY SOLVED

Hello all, just heard back from Bob Byrne, the author of the Shizzle style pack.

The world/globe icons mean that those styles will tile/repeat seamlessly!

Pure comedy

Yes, I also spotted this (eventually!). Although the one displayed in the styles panel is different to this one! 😉 <wink>.
