itsBaffled
In game dev (and I suspect many other mediums) tiling textures are CRUCIAL. Photoshop makes turning a non seamless texture into a seamless texture quite simply with its pattern preview feature and allowing the clone stamp to wrap back around when passing one side of an image to place the rest of the stamp on the opposite side, it also allows for easy previewing of how it is going to look in the final implementation when being tiled. Here is a video I could find demonstrating the tiling feature, the timestamp is at where it starts to become really useful (I doesn't however demonstrate the clone stamp I mentioned) Etheryans and vink3d
Alfred
Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @itsBaffled. In Affinity Photo you can use the Affine filter to help you create seamless textures. itsBaffled 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
vink3d
Affine is a basic tool that has been available in Photoshop as an offset for several decades. What's important about tile previews is the ability to see the repetitions from a greater distance to see some obvious pattern repetitions that aren't visible in just one tile. This tile preview is also available in Krita as a wrap around mode. This tool is crucial for texture design and just keeps me using photoshop. I'm sure it shouldn't be a problem for you to add such an important function
Chaonic
I agree that having a preview of how a texture tiles would be invaluable. Knowing what the texture looks like repeated over and over makes it possible to focus on the spots that make repetition obvious. There is a bunch of features that make Affinity Photo great for creating handpainted PBR materials for games. But doing tiled textures blindly cripples the workflow greatly. In just about every other program you get a tiled view where the texture you're working on is at least in a 3x3 arrangement. Detail work almost always gravitates toward the middle of a canvas, while the Affine filter lets you focus on the seams, it's far from a perfect solution. vink3d
Etheryans
Definitely a feature I'd like to see! It helps a ton having a feature like such, way more than offseting the texture. Makes texture workflow a breeze Edited July 26 by Etheryans vink3d
