Clipped layer – nudging contents

Recommended Posts

Anyone know if it's possible to move a clipped group's contents around but have the clipping shape stay in place?

I'm asking because that would make it easier to nudge the content within a clipping area. Currently I have to unclip it, then move the clipping layer outside the content, then re-position, then clip it again. But I bet there's a better way.

Hi Mikefats,

Welcome to the Forums :)

If you click the thumbnail of the clipped objects while holding down Shift in the Layers tab you should be able to move then around independent to the object they are clipped too.

Hi mikefats,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

Select the content layer, check Lock Children in the context toolbar, then you can move the contents without affecting the mask.

However seems it's not possible to use the cursor keys and ⇧ (shift) to move/nudge the content layer. Only dragging the layer on canvas using the mouse.

I'm logging this to be looked at.
